ABOUT US

Happy Puppy is a canine care company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We offer dog walking, hiking, training, enrichment-based play, and house-sitting. We offer more than just exercise — we provide meaningful enrichment and balanced social experiences to help pups feel confident, fulfilled, and supported — while helping guardians better understand their pup’s needs.

Our Team

Alex Schofield

Owner / Operator / Trainer / Walker

Alex is the owner and operator of Happy Puppy and leads our off-leash pack hikes, training and enrichment programs, and house sitting services. She also works closely with our valued team member, Gabrielle, to thoughtfully integrate new pups into her on-leash pack walks and private sessions.

Alex is pet first aid certified and has extensive experience in dog training, working with dogs of varying temperaments and energy levels. Her training approach begins with looking beyond the behaviour and understanding the pup’s needs. She then applies structured methods, focusing on mental and physical fulfillment through walks and controlled play. She leads sessions with clear, calm, and confident energy, creating an environment where pups feel safe, secure, and eager to learn and play!

Across pack walks and hikes, Alex prioritizes safety and thoughtful group matching, ensuring pups can thrive in social settings while building confidence and reinforcing essential skills.

When not leading services, Alex is continually learning from a wide range of respected dog trainers and canine behaviourists, drawing from multiple perspectives to bring a balanced, informed approach to every service.

Above all, Alex is passionate about helping guardians support their pups’ mental, physical, and emotional fulfillment — leading to a better life for them both.

Gabrielle Bevis O'Keefe

Walker / Trainer

Gabrielle joined the Happy Puppy team in spring 2025 and leads our on-leash group walks and private sessions. She brings a calm, thoughtful presence to every service, helping pups feel safe and supported.

On group walks, Gabrielle establishes clear, consistent expectations that dogs understand and benefit from, prioritizing safety while helping pups become calm, confident, and comfortable in a pack. Her leadership supports proper dog-to-dog etiquette and balanced social interactions.

In private sessions, Gabrielle incorporates training reinforcement and enrichment, providing clear guidance that leaves each pup mentally and physically fulfilled. Gabrielle is pet first aid certified, experienced with reactive and sensitive dogs, and has a background working with horses, which directly translates to the skill she brings to every session: reading animal body language, building trust, and maintaining calm leadership.

She shares her life with her rescue dog, Rusty, whose transformation inspired her passion for dog training. Originally a Happy Puppy client, Gabrielle’s dedication and commitment to learning led her to join the team and become a valued team member.
